Orbitofrontal Cortex
OFCWhere the value of an outcome is weighed against its cost, and the region most consistently thinned in dependent users. This is the specific anatomy behind poor risk judgement.

Cortical Thickness
How thick the outer layer of the brain is, measured on MRI. It thins with normal ageing and faster in several dependencies. In steroid users the thinning is regional, and it is concentrated in exactly the areas that handle inhibition.
Impulsivity
Acting before the cost has been weighed. Distinct from aggression: aggression is a response to a trigger, impulsivity is the absence of the pause that would have stopped it. The imaging literature points at a weaker brake.
